The dots show the number of people connected to the SHOUTcast server on the machine. When the widget's launched, it gets the max listener count from the server and creates instances of the graphic on the fly. Every time the track changes, it gets the current listener count from the server and lights up the appropriate number. (it's only a hobbyist server running off my cable modem, which is why the listener max is so abysmally low
)The dot graphics themselves were made in Photoshop. The desktop is a PDF file I made in Illustrator.
