It's too bad that the Iraqi government uses kids as combatants. It is also sad that someone might have to shoot this little guy.

The use of children as either shields or actual combatants really is horrible. That story elsewhere about the woman going out to scout US positions with a held child is *horrible*.

It is an old Viet Kong tactic. You put "non-combatants" in danger and then when the US defend it enrages the local population.

Yes, chield soldiers are one of the worst kind of child abuse thinkable. And I wouldn't rule out Saddam Hussein is unscrupulous enough to order it. In fact I have read a Spiegel article prior to war, that suspected he does.

Nevertheless, please stick to the facts. I have seen this exact same image with the caption "chield holds the weapon of his father".

Actually, looking at the way that kid is holding the gun, it is not unlikely.

Note that I'm not saying that Iraq *isn't* employing child soldiers. I'm just speaking about that photograph and your assumption.
