Australia is a bit like England when it comes to protesting and protestors. The majority of the people attending a protest march are peaceful and want to get their message across without violence.

Then there is the group of thugs who have no interest in the cause of the march - they do what they enjoy doing - destroying property and smacking heads. They're less than 1% of the protestors but the media centre on them as a peaceful protest march is boring whereas a riot makes for a better (more sensational) story.

I find I am getting more intolerant of violent protestors - I believe the authorities should greet them with water canons and pepper spray.
