Even if the US has indeed destroyed its chemical weapons, nerve gas, etc. It still retains nuclear weapons which would be far more destructive in any event.

I find it odd that people would necessarily breathe a sigh of relief in the belief that we have honestly destroyed such chemical and bioweapons. We may very have done so, but its bricks in the grand canyon compared to the nuclear weapons we retain.

this does not mean I think we should divest ourselves of nuclear weapons, just pointing out how odd it is not worry that we still have them if we stopped worrying about chem/bioweapons just because we said we got rid of them.

weird.

for the record, though, since no one has independently verified or even forced us to dispose of them, I doubt our government would see any strategic advantage to ACTUALLY disposing of them if they didn't really have to.
