They didn't have to do anything -- you're right. That's why they don't have to write what the administration tells them to.

The U.S. administration may have made a deliberate policy decision to cast doubt on Saddam's current existence, but it's quite a stretch to say that CNN simply follows the administration's dictates. Since this story ran, I have seen several people interviewed on CNN who say they believe that WAS Saddam. Did the administration tell them to do that, too?
