I'm a bit surprised by your reaction. This struck me as one of Chomsky's more mild and restrained rants.

The only claim I find a bit unfounded is that the media had a calculated role in making Americans think Iraqis were involved in 9/11. I do think the media sent a lot of mixed signals (along with politicians), but I chalk the mixup up to good old public ignorance.

Once a story has more than 5 characters (especially with foreign names) and any substantial plot twists, most brains turn off. Too many Americans rely on TV news and it's ridiculously shallow level of information.
