Hey simonjames, are you accusing me of being a red neck? I don't speak French so forgive me if I must ask. I speak English, Spanish, and a little German unfortunately.
Let me enlighten you dude. I am from California. Born and raised there. I live in Texas for work.
If I WAS from Texas, and WAS a red neck, I would certainly be proud of it.
Now go back and enjoy the site!

Actually, more like last month.
Search the archives for a thorough dicussion of why this site is damaging for America, while funny to everybody else.
I think Spliffdaddy tried it last time.

seems like a though-provoking level-headed website to me.

Since I don't spend most of my life on these boards like you I would not know what happened last week! Aren't you supposed to be sleeping darlin?
You bit!
No - I am not accusing you (macpilot) of being a redneck.
I was sarcastically inferring that this site will increase the idea abroad that all Americans are rednecks (and not just some).
Take a pill and chill out - if I was being derogative to you you'd know.

do is the french website that wants bush to choke on a pretzel ok? from a german standpoint of course?
I never saw the french site but it seems it was an attack on George W. alone - not on the whole country. The site in this topic is an attack on all things French.
No one likes to be set upon - least of all Americans.
Actually I don't know why I bother responding to topics like this - I'd have more success in converting Zimp to become an atheist than dealing with a bunch of people like those who create hate sites.

And maybe you should go "walk the talk" and be a human shield! When are we going to kill that pesky Information Minister? That's all....for now.....gotta go back to work. |

"Oooh, what are they going to think of us!?"

Nothing like a good case of patriotic fervor to flush the ignorant into the open.
And the thing of it is, you just won't see how pathetic and stupid it is. Enjoy your freedom fries.

Tell you what MikeM and all the others that can't stand a patriotic American, I posted thoughts in a PEACEFUL, LEGAL manner on these boards, and then someone calls me an vulgarity while twisting my ORIGINAL post in attempt to justify ILLEGAL protesting behavior. You want to insinuate some kind of imaturity look around.
Yes I have a job. I have also spent roughly $20000 on Macs in the last six years, and I don't even NEED them for my business.
My office costs $20 million and travels at 480 KTAS.....how about yours?
Oh, let me explain what KTAS is.....Knots True Air Speed.
Any more questions about MY office I will gladly provide.

The esteemed Texan (ne Californian) meant to say, of course, "If I WERE...and WERE..."

I also have a job.
And my "office" spends billions every year to be sure you CAN fly in safety- as well as walk the streets, take the subway and reside in your home AND make posts defining what you believe to be patriotic and not patriotic. It also does so so that others can exercise their RIGHT to protest- hip or not. Wartime or not.
So. What's your point?
Mine is that we live in a free and open society and protesting is a right- voicing is a right. You exercised yours. Why do't YOU go reread your copy of the Bill of Rights and get the hell off the people who are taking action for what THEY believe is correct?
God. The condemnation is just SICK. Archie Bunker lives in a WHOLE lotta folks these days.

Why don't YOU go reread my ORIGINAL post before you tell me about the Bill of Rights which I am quite familiar with! The "condemnation".....whatever....
There is a difference between PEACEFUL protests and unlawful harassment. Can't you grasp this idea? Please quote one of my posts where I have objected to the PEACEFUL display of protest!
I am waiting......

Michael Palin: Ahh.. Very passable, this, very passable.
Graham Chapman: Nothing like a good glass of Chateau de Chassilier wine, ay Gessiah?
Terry Gilliam: You're right there Obediah.
Eric Idle: Who'd a thought thirty years ago we'd all be sittin' here drinking Chateau de Chassilier wine?
MP: Aye. In them days, we'd a' been glad to have the price of a cup o' tea.
GC: A cup ' COLD tea.
EI: Without milk or sugar.
TG: OR tea!
MP: In a filthy, cracked cup.
EI: We never used to have a cup. We used to have to drink out of a rolled up newspaper.
GC: The best WE could manage was to suck on a piece of damp cloth.
TG: But you know, we were happy in those days, though we were poor.
MP: Aye. BECAUSE we were poor. My old Dad used to say to me, "Money doesn't buy you happiness."
EI: 'E was right. I was happier then and I had NOTHIN'. We used to live in this tiiiny old house, with greaaaaat big holes in the roof.
GC: House? You were lucky to have a HOUSE! We used to live in one room, all hundred and twenty-six of us, no furniture. Half the floor was missing; we were all huddled together in one corner for fear of FALLING!
TG: You were lucky to have a ROOM! *We* used to have to live in a corridor!
MP: Ohhhh we used to DREAM of livin' in a corridor! Woulda' been a palace to us. We used to live in an old water tank on a rubbish tip. We got woken up every morning by having a load of rotting fish dumped all over us! House!? Hmph.
EI: Well when I say "house" it was only a hole in the ground covered by a piece of tarpaulin, but it was a house to US.
GC: We were evicted from *our* hole in the ground; we had to go and live in a lake!
TG: You were lucky to have a LAKE! There were a hundred and sixty of us living in a small shoebox in the middle of the road.
MP: Cardboard box?
TG: Aye.
MP: You were lucky. We lived for three months in a brown paper bag in a septic tank. We used to have to get up at six o'clock in the morning, clean the bag, eat a crust of stale bread, go to work down mill for fourteen hours a day week in-week out. When we got home, out Dad would thrash us to sleep with his belt!
GC: Luxury. We used to have to get out of the lake at three o'clock in the morning, clean the lake, eat a handful of hot gravel, go to work at the mill every day for tuppence a month, come home, and Dad would beat us around the head and neck with a broken bottle, if we were LUCKY!
TG: Well we had it tough. We used to have to get up out of the shoebox at twelve o'clock at night, and LICK the road clean with our tongues. We had half a handful of freezing cold gravel, worked twenty-four hours a day at the mill for fourpence every six years, and when we got home, our Dad would slice us in two with a bread knife.
EI: Right. I had to get up in the morning at ten o'clock at night, half an hour before I went to bed, eat a lump of cold poison, work twenty-nine hours a day down mill, and pay mill owner for permission to come to work, and when we got home, our Dad would kill us, and dance about on our graves singing "Hallelujah."
MP: But you try and tell the young people today that... and they won't believe ya'.
ALL: Nope, nope..

Really? A Mac technician with 7.4 post per day? How EXACTLY are you keeping me safe? By spending most of your day on this forum? Please, be specific.

Mac technician with a DoD contracted R&D facility. We all do our part. Currently, I am running diags on two Xserves, defragging a drive, rescuing data on two other machines and imaging another, all while testing out X-11 and this new DVI- ADC converter box. I call it multitasking. My boss and clients have zero complaints. Apparently, you do. Matters not a whit.
No need to thank me. You pay me pretty well.
Next question? I see you are into research. No need. If I can answer, I will, flyboy.

Nice. Is there much Mac stuff in the military? I remember the army used to use Macs as their webservers...
This is exactly why America has its 9/11

The Gov't- most branches including the military- use whatever tool works best for a given application. There is pretty much every platform known to mankind- and a few that are not!
But yeah, the Macs are used.
