"Print advertisements for the teen comedy originally featured a photograph of star Amanda Bynes wearing an American flag T-shirt and flashing the peace sign with her fingers as she stands between two British royal guards.

With the war in Iraq sparking anti-war protests in the United States and abroad, however, Warner Bros. quickly changed the ad. The studio said Monday it feared the peace sign would be viewed as a political message."

Funny thing is the peace ones are still up here in Canada.

They cite "anti-war protests" as the reason for changing it, not 'pro-war' sentiment.

Its kind of obvious they just don't want politics (on either side)overly involved in their little teeny-bopper movie, not some big conspiracy to be 'pro-war'.

And anyway, Hollywood 'pro war'? Since when? Truth is, they really don't care one way or another, as long as $hit makes money.

yeah a smart business decision has nothing to do with the US being " pro-war"
Ya you sure as hell wouldn't want to advocate PEACE in any fashion.

Retarded.
It's anti-British damnit! Why are they supporting your war?

Pfft! Anyone that really needs 'What a Girl Wants' advocating their 'movement' has quite simply LOST.

What's next? The 'My little Pony' peace protestor tea set?

Maybe 'Mace-packin' "Die-in" Barbie and her pal 'Kum Ba Yah' Ken?

Really, how about if anyone thinks that one Peace sign in a stupid movie like that is worth pulling because it isn't kissing enough American ass.

But thanks for making my point for me

Where have you been? That's all Hollywood has ever done.

To Hollywood types, it really doesn't matter if they are smootchin' the right cheek the left, or even getting real friendly with the 'centrist' position. It's all about the moo-lah.

By the way, for a little perspective, the box draw in Cali alone whips all of Canada.
She is cute.
Pro-war, or simply not-anti-war? There's a difference, and I think the nuance is often lost on anti-war types. Rather like the difference between anti-war and not-pro-war is lost on the pro-war folks.

Canada's population=30 million
California's population=35 million

stands to figure that it would

That isn't the case here oh star wars one. Am I surprised you thought this was topic worthy? No.

Call it a good business decision. They wanted the ad to be apolitical.

Wow, I am more surprised that you are defending the US and disagreeing with me.

No wait, no I'm not.

Yea, compared to the picture, the rest of this thread is crap. People need to get their priorities straight.

I wasn't defending the US, besides If I was defending this, it wouldn't be the US was defending, but the company that put out such a ad. You know, the government doesn't own everything here in the US. This isn't a "US" thing. THis isn't the US being against peace.

I was commenting on your usual, over-reacting to anything you can might even consider anti-American.
Hmm, the charge might be accurate if they had photoshopped Saddam's head on a spike in her hand or if she was masterbating with an M-16.

Otherwise it just looks like the same old faux-patriotism that most of LA suffers from. As long as you put a flag on your car, it doesn't matter if cheat on your taxes, hire illegal aliens to mow your lawn or sell sensitive technologies to 3rd world dictators.

People in this town will do anything for money.

And I was commenting on your usual smug superior attitude but I guess that is to be expected as you are both American and a bible thumper so it is inevitable

Now if that isn't the pot calling the kettle black.
Unfortunately it's people like Socially Awkward Solo who seemingly can find a political arguement in anything, that force distributors to make trivial changes like this.

You make a good observation. And I agree.

Funny, i am all for it. It is the Zimphires that defend the US no matter what are the ones that have problems.

Yes, because I defend the US no matter what. I told you, come up with something valid, and I will probably agree.

I don't defend them no matter what, and I don't make a deal out of such petty stuff as this.

I can't help it when you try to make something petty, out to be something BIG. Hmmm

Will that work? Or will you still want to follow me around and reply to everything I post?
