Before he was declared dead?

Not me for one. I'm sure I would have remembered such a spooky name an'all.

Yea, he was pretty well known if you ever watched a documentary on the history of Iraq. They have quotes of him ordering to use gas to kill them. Crazy AND sadistic, I think those were the two main job requirements to work for Saddam
I had *never* heard about him before he was dead. :/

I've known about him for about 10 years or so -- since the early 90's.

Maury
.
Yep, well before this.

Not back when he did what he did though... I was a bit young at the time.

But grew up hearing the name.
Must be a US/UK thang...
I consider myself a bit of a news junkie and followed the last Gulf war (and its aftermath) very closely.

Just never heard that name used before..

Any Uk'ers know different?
First read about him in a Brit newspaper...
Learned about him around the time of the first Gulf war. So about 12 years ago.
He was also profiled quite a bit by CNN, and the other news agencies. They love doing the "behind the killer" thing.
I remember hearing of him many years ago.
Who is this "Saddam" you keep referring to
