Favourite Pixies song?
Well, you gotta have one, dontcha?
Thems da rulez.
You gotta have a favourite Pixies song. It's like not owning a copy of "Frampton comes alive", or not having seen "The Breakfast Club".
Me?
"Velouria" off BossaNova

"Velouria" off BossaNova
"Gouge Away" off Doolittle
[edit: Velouria would be my second favoursite song, but the rest of the album is crap. Third favourite: Alec Eiffel off Trompe Le Monde]

Velouria, the Weezer cover of it isnt bad either.
It's so hard to choose. I would probably say "River Euphrates" off Surfer Rosa. Or maybe "Debaser" off Doolittle. Then there's always "Letter to Memphis" off Trompe Le Monde. Like I said, it is so hard to choose...

Huh? How can you say the rest of the album is crap? Haven't you ever heard "Allison" or "Dig for Fire" or "Havalina?"

mmmhnnhmmmbrrreagghhhyeahhhh, they are good songs, but the whole album is not as consistently good as, say, Doolittle or Surfer Rosa. Perhaps I was slightly exaggerating when I said the album was crap.
where is my mind.....maybe dig for fire
Dig For Fire gets my vote.
"Broken Face"
"I've Been Tired"
"I've Been Tired"
I must admit that BossaNova as a whole is not up to the standard of "the best" Surfer Rosa, but Velouria makes it all worth while no matter what other songs are on there. But it does have those genius moments still on "Dig for Fire" and everything, so it's not that bad.
Where is my mind of course.

fuuuuuuck. i need to listen to some pixies now. what recordings of theirs do i even have anymore. .. i think i have that live special edition CD thing they released just after their breakup. if i can find it. hmm.
Ick. I just don't relate to the Pixies. No favorite song, for they are far from being my favorite band, but "where is my mind" is probably the closest thing to a good song they have.

Joey Santiago was the guitarist, IIRC.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned "Gigantic".
Another great one: "Hey"
don't listen to them that much but I always liked Monkey Gone To Heaven and Here Comes Your Man
Another for Where is My Mind, along with a great version of In Heaven that they did on the BBC...
Close 3rd for Debaser.
My wife sent me a link to a "which Pixie's song are you?" quiz - if I can dig it up I'll post it here.

Debaser.
You know, I have never really listened, or been into the Pixies. But I think I might give them a listen. I've been hearing good things about them for over a decade. *gets out of rock*
Alec Eiffel
or
All over the world
or
All over the world
I'm fairly hip, into pop-culture, graduated from HS in 1989, always liked alternative rock, but somehow never got into the Pixes- can't even say with any confidence that I would recognize one of their songs if I heard it.
Strange. A bit like CSI, or maybe Dallas, popular, pervasive, never saw it,

I was going to write that, but it would begin a slippery slope to pledge the entire catalog.

ah yes. thats his name. he played some beautiful ****ed up stuff.
i really dont think theres a "favorite song" by the pixies. they were one of those bands that release great ALBUMS, not just great songs. its kinda like trying to pick one fugazi song that is your favorite.
"Caribou"
