28 Days Later

This looks like a truely scary movie.. I can't wait to see it.

That, and "The Eye".

I caught it last weekend, and thought it was done pretty well. They did a great job of making it appear that London was indeed abandoned by all but the zombies. It had some scary moments (I'll refrain from expanding on this so as not to spoil things for others), but I thought it was more gory than frightening. The zombies were downright disgusting. B+

the plug i saw on it looked really good..the director(s?)did Trainspotting & that was a great movie...i would see it just because of that.

i can also say that i thouroughly enjoyed the movie. if you like this also check out shallow grave.

Totally dug it, except for the general DV look of it. It's good to see the Shallow Grave and Trainspotting crew working together again.

Looks pretty good going by the trailer, but then most movies do.
Plot-wise, it sounds pretty similar to The Omega Man, which in turn was based on Richard Matheson's classic SF novel I Am Legend.

I saw it in London and thought it was a great flick. You can tell it's on a tight budget but I think that adds to the overall effect. Difinately worth the price of admission

I just saw it tonight... very nice film IMO. Probably will watch it again in 6 months on DVD.

I guess it hasn't been advertised too much, I've barely heard anything about it. Am I correct that it's a type of "I Am Legand/Omega Man" sort of apocalyptical deal caused by a bunch of overzealous PETA types? Or am I getting a couple of movies confussed?

Just saw the DVD - saw it at the Cinema about nine months ago. Cool movie, but can't help but feel disappointed by the ending - the mansion stuff. The beginning is excellent though - the whole empty streets of London and stuff.

BTW - it was all done on DV. No real film shooting on this movie. Not sure what it was edited on though.

I'm not familiar with "I Am Legand/Omega Man", but it sounds like you're describing this movie. There is a bit with PETA types who try to liberate lab animals in the beginning. The rest is survival-horror. You can see the first six minutes of the movie at the site I linked to if you want to get a feel for the setup.

It reminded me of some zombie movies that I've seen, but the characters have to avoid infected people instead of the living dead.

It did look inexpensively made...DV-looking, small cast, some outdoor shooting, etc. but I didn't think that took too much away from the experience.

The Omega Man Is a movie based ont he Book I Am Legand by Richard Matheson about the last living guy on an earth populated by a bunch of pasty faced zombie mutants.

I saw it the other night and was disappointed. I don't believe it lived up to its scariness hype. Scarier movies I've seen:

Alien
The Howling
The Exorcist
Antz

Wait. No, I didn't see Antz.

The director apparently didn't want it marketed as a horror zombie flick. but I guess he got out-voted. I suppose thats why you're dissappointed. It wasn't meant to scare you.

I wonder what he did want it marketed as.

Anyone else find it sad that they had to remake Dawn of the Dead?
George Romero's version is still going to be better and the new version is just going to live off of the success of 28 Days. And from the reviews it sounds like they did revamp it to take on many of the same qualities.

28 Days Later was solid, picked it up on Netflix... well worth the postage time.

Three and 1/2 stars.

I saw it a few months ago. OK, but not stellar. I was disappointed, given all the hype.

I picked it up because Netflix thought I would like it... I guess that's why I thought it was amazing. I also loved the cinematography. The living dead were amazing.

The first half was a stellar zombie/end-of-the-world movie.

The second half was a shoddy mansion thriller.

Indeed, didn't quite do it for me, possibly because of the champagne I don't know...

Hmmmmm.....could be, I suppose, but I think it worked. And of course when he kills the dude with his bare hands...quite a powerful statement in there.

You know, I'd had a whole bunch of friends go see it and they all came back with negative reviews. I happened to be at a friend's place when he rented it, and it blew me away. It's my favourite "horror" movie ever, and it would probably make it in my top 10 or 15 of all-time greats.

I almost choked when the Godspeed You! Black Emperor song came on. Soundtracks make films.

I saw it over the summer. After the frontal nudity it was good. Up until it became "Lord of the Flies" with soldiers and a mansion.

I hated the ending, all three of them, they should have all died.

Besides that it was a pretty good movie.

Thanks for ruining the ending.
