A digital to analog conversion must be made somewhere along the line you know.
There is not an appreciable difference in having the conversion happen on the video card (keep in mind that the signal is digital till just before it reaches the connector itself...) or to a converter just outside of the computer connected through DVI. I use a Powermac G4 on a 21" Trinitron Sony. I don't think I'm losing any quality or causing any distortion by doing that as opposed to a video card with VGA or a flat panel.Quote:

yes... the obvious reasons being there is little need for it on the Mac. Yes there are certain situations that may call for it, but alot of devices use chipsets like Oxford's 922 which allows Firewire 800 and 400 in addition to USB 2.0.
The only real reason why it MIGHT make it into all future macs is just to shut up pundits who emphasis that missing buzzword and don't recommend the product for that reason.
Nothing to get riled up about. Don't let the PC pundits get to you.

yes...quaint little computers... they have room for 4 hard drive mounts and 2 optical drive mounts, and 5 PCI/AGP slots?
