Angels in America on HBO
Anybody watch this last night? It's one of the best things I've seen on TV in years. Great cast, very intelligent dialogue. Part two will be on next Sunday.
Al Pacino was amazing. That scene with his doctor was incredible.
(thought I'd bring this up before ankle_brains could )

Dude, I watched that last night while in a hotel. It was ****ing awesome! Now I have to order HBO at home to see part 2.
Felt like a was watching a play. I enjoyed most of it. Not a life changing experience or anything. Just more proof that no one can touch HBO. Band of Brothers, Wit, Six Feet Under, Sopranos, From the Earth to the Moon, etc. Unfreakintouchable. NBC got sheeit.

I am having Desha-voo, did you post something similar in another thread a while back?
I have only seen Six Feet Under Season one, and I loved it I need to see some of those other ones.

BTW, how many parts of this series are there? Only two parts?
Two. Both are 3 hours.
I believe that's cut down form the play version as well.

The play was written about 15 years ago. I've seen about 8 productions of it, all damn fine. Unfortunately, I no longer get HBO...

Really. That's one of the reason I brought this up. I was hoping to hear from somebody who saw the play and could compare it to the TV version.
It's gotten rave reviews and most of the reviewers have seen the both versions.
I've seen the play, but I missed it on HBO, so I can't make a comparison between the two. Luckily, HBO shows things a million times, so I should be able to see it at some point. For what its worth, the play is absolutely incredible.

Saw it last night and while i think Al Pacino's is indeed giving a most wonderful performance away, i'd suggest cutting off the last, say 10 minutes (the 1990 bit). I think it totally spoils the full 6 hours of enjoyment, since because of it becomes some silly moralist blah-die-blah. What a shame!
Oh, by the way, is that a James Woods cameo, 8 minutes from start (in chapter 1)?

Which makes the post new to you. So i fail to see what you are grring about!
Also since the HBO miniseries got 11 Emmy Awards i'd say a bump is nothing extraordinary... (That is: unless the lounge's horse became too high for it's riders/occupants to step down occasionally)

You mean i actually made you search though your TV guide for the show? Oh damned, lawl! I'm really sorry, sincerely sorry, but i can't help being amused about that.
Specially since i would probably be pissed off myself too if this happened to me...
Next time i'll just start a new thread, but since i wanted to avoid a duplicate thread on the subject, i searched first, my bad!
So, gather you didn't see it yet? then heed my advice: press "stop" about 10 minutes before the end (a caption to the effect that it is 1990 now will appear to signal you).

Why stop it 10 min early?
