Moose is good. I would never shoot one, but if someone offers me some steaks, I don't turn them down.

They can indeed be dangerous. Mom was off in the distance, and the pics were taken on my back porch, about four feet from the back door.
I need some Alaskan salmon cheap if you can get me some...

One of my aunts was hiking on Isle Royale in Lake Superior some years back, when she came face to face with a moose. She shook her fist at it and yelled, "Shoo!" Whereupon the moose turned around and took off.
Even the women in my family have balls.
Great pictures.
Those are lovely photos. I love Christmas scenes, the snow and dark. Looks like an amazing place to live in, lucky.

Does that happen a lot, Moose just wandering by?
Awesome!

Send some Alaskan beer my way would ya?

I love that stuff...
Nice-thanks for posting those. The only time a moose appears where I am is when one with brainworm becomes confused and wanders south.
Does the talking Moose exist as an app for OSX?

That brought me WAY back when I saw it!

This goes up there with MacPuke as "obscure cool app for the Classic Mac".

Anyone have that MacPuke sound?

Some more images for your enjoyment.

That lump on the left is one of the cars..
Popular these photo threads lately. Nice shoots BTW. Don't think I have ever experienced moose that close my self.
Cool pics AKcrab. You need to shovel a path to your gas grill so you can still grill out in the winter.
what's all that crazy white stuff all over the ground?!@

i'm from california and we don't have meese or mooses.

Whoops. My apologies.

Of course.

It's okay about the **** list, though - I'm more of a cat person anyway.

That's one tough bassett hound.
I would guess he/she was like a pig in sh*t out there...

a bassett in its rarely seen state.

awake.
It looks like the older brother showed up today. We guess he's probably a two year old. The fact that he still has his antlers is a bit curious.

And for the cat lovers: two of my five...

Dial-up users are probably cursing this thread by now, so that's probably about it for my fabulous photo thread...

Unless more moose show up.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

great pix AK. Where I'm from the only time we see moose is on the news in summertime, when they get caught in someone's swimming pool.

and mas, where did you find that?

That is so cute!

One can imagine the thoughts going through the two parties minds:
Cat: Sheeeeiiiiiiiit!!!!
Moose: Oh come on! Stop being such a chicken. Let's fight.

I like how the moose appears to have his hackles up. Ever read the children's book A Moose for Jessica? True story, with photos, about a male Vermont moose who becomes enamoured of a farmer's cow named Jessica, and courts her for weeks. Amazing! Look it up on Amazon.
amazing pic
Very cool, AKcrab!

I know you know this - but for any city-folk who see this and want to pet one of these Bullwinkle's next time they visit the wild, be careful! Moose look uncoordinated and silly, but they are fast, and the mommas are VERY protective of baby.

Cute kitties too!

Cat/Moose picture.

That is the reason to carry your camera EVERYWHERE.
All around cool pics.
