Since I'm in a good mood, I'll post the actual picture you were trying to link to.

Sorry man, you bought a look-alike "Gameboy SP Advance" instead...

Not a bad button layout idea, but I'm thinking it would be nigh impossible to hold on to without either pressing something unintentionally, or obscuring the screen.
I'm thinking also that there would have to be a little more peripheral space for headphone jack and docking connector, at either the top or bottom.
Good Photoshop work, though.
Heh, watch me eat my words when this turns out to be real next week... Off to AI...

Production shots are given to advertisers and resale magazines days to sometimes a month before its release or just the image size spec in order to set up their pages. They are asked to sign confidentiality agreements not to release photo's but it does happen.

It looks like the earbuds are supposed to be well in front of the unit, making them appear larger than they are/would be.
I think it's a pretty spiffy design. And for those who reflexively say "Apple would never design something like that," let me just remind you: MDD PowerMac.

I agree that it is not the right design for the market. a cheap, smaller iPods is catering to the younger people with less money. It needs to be cool, hip and fashionable.
The current iPods are very slick and simple which is great for the high end market, but not for teens. The current one is also much to fragile.

I'll tell you how it's a bad design:
The buttons are practically touching. Someone already pointed this out, but there has to be more space between the buttons
More space around the buttons and scroll pad. No space for actually holding the device except on the sides which makes it very difficult, if not impossible to...
Operate the device with one hand. With no arrangement of the interface elements to allow comfortable movement of, say, a thumb between the different elements without obscuring or accidentally contacting another element, you will need two hands to efficiently operate the device. Apple put a good amount of time into the design of the first and current iPods so that they could be operated with one hand, while leaving the display clearly visible during operation.
My opinion, apple will stick with a symmetrical design for the next, MiniPod (that is, if it happens)
