NOTE: "diva" is utterly, utterly derogatory unless used for a sufficiently mature person (at least thirty) who has impeccably mastered her art and is revered to the point of worship by critics, other artists, and fans.
The only living diva (non-derogatory sense) that comes to mind is Sophia Loren.
Madonna is the only one in the music business who comes close to the status, but doesn't quite cut it because it's pretty much accepted that there are a lot better vocalists out there.
