Good for you, I guess. I've known a few people not have TV's. They're always so proud of themselves and trumpet the fact to anyone who'll listen. Personally, I've never watched much telly, because there's usually somethings that interests me more, not because I've set myself an agenda.

TV is no different to radio or a newspaper or the internet, or any other medium - as an individual you'll find 99% of it useless, you just have to find your 1%.
