What makes a structure be considered "Free Standing"?

CN Tower in Toronto is the tallest free standing structure in the world....

The CN Tower is 1822 ft. , but the tallest building is 1670 ft. .

I think they call the CN tower the tallest "free-standing structure" because they can't call it the "tallest building".

its just a structure that is sticking outa ground like a really long antenna I guess..that and ofcourse it aint really a building..

The CN tower is just a larger canadian rip off of the seattle space needle. There both useless really, just turist atractions. No offence to the canadians though there nice people when you go to canada you know your not going to get shot.

Heh... The CN Tower is one of many towers with a similar shape built way back, and it's three times the height of the Space Needle.

Well, not just tourist attractions since they are full of radio transmitters, etc.

Plus, it's a great workout climbing the 1776 stairs of the CN Tower twice a year.

Actually, one of the main reasons the CN tower was built was for a TV and radio transmitter. As they were going to put something really damn tall in the middle of the city they might as well make it look good.
