They give them to you in your hips where the muscle layer is thickest. I've had a slight fever off and on but no other side effects from the shots. I was reading somewhere that most of the rabies cases that occur in the United States come from bats and that most people do not even realize that they were scratched or bitten by a bat and therefore they do not seek any medical intervention.
