She certainly got off very easy. That is a slap in the face of our judicial system.

Oh yeah like they were really going to make "that much of an example" of her.. I am surprised she got anytime at all.. She probably wont do the whole 5 months either

Seems reasonable to me. I just find it amusing that she would have made money if she had simply kept the stock.

At first I thought it was too little but you have to remember she is losing a ton of money because of bad press and lawyer fees.

Heard on news radio today regarding Martha:
Quote:
The initial strip search is the most humiliating. They take you into a room, make you take off your clothes and bend over against a wall. With rubber gloves, they search every orifice of your body... even your mouth.

Oooooh - your mouth! That really painted a scary picture...

She'll do it there's no early parole for federal offenses. And how bad can five months of house arrest be? (as long as she doesn't watch any daytime TV.)

She films her show in her house, so it shouldn't be a problem at all.

She is worth a billion... I can't imagine that court costs and lawyer fees are going to make a big dent in her net worth. The bad press isn't doing much either; the people that loved her (middle-aged women) continue to do so (just ask my mom...), and those of us that hated her still do.

Martha compares herself to Nelson Mandela

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - As she faces possible jail time, Martha Stewart invoked the name of Nelson Mandela, South Africa's persecuted anti-apartheid hero, saying "many, many good people have gone to prison."

The letter she wrote to the judge makes her sound very arrogant. I hope her career is ruined.
