Hello all,
As you can see from my sig, I'm planning to get an iBook in a few months time. At least, that was the plan. I'm now looking at a 15" PB w/ SuperDrive. Here's why - I randomly had a look at the prices on the US Apple Shop and realised the PB was a lot cheaper there than it is here (NZ).

So, I had a look at the Canada, Japan, and NZ Apple stores online as well, and I saw that the price of the 15" SD PB was as follows:

US : $2,299 USD
Canada: $2,899 CND ($2,296 USD)
Japan: Y272,790 ($2,523 USD)
NZ : $4,275 NZD ($3,033 USD)

I'm amazed - I can understand shipping to other countries would add on some cost, but I can't believe that this can be as high as $800 USD! Does anyone know why there is such a huge range in prices for the same product?

Also, since the US Apple Store is the cheapest, I tried to see if I could order the PB from there, but it only seems to ship within the US. Kinda dissapointing cos I wouldn't really want to pay $800 US more than I needed to for a PowerBook. Does anyone know if the US shop will let you ship to outside the US? (I'm kind of doubtful on this one though...)

Thanks all.
