Ronnie... dude.... really man, did he say he needed 200fps? come on. Star Wars used digital, and Mr.Lucas et al saved TONS of money. Digital is by no means unprofessional. I think that the two biggest limitations of digital is the framerate issue you mentioned, and the fact that film can produce extremely high resolution, while video is stuck at where it is.

But that still cant justify the cost issue. I mean, I dont even know how to find out the official running price of one of those theatrical Panavision film cams. Didnt see them on the site. And hell, even Panavision is making digital cams. HD of course.

Dont get be wrong--the look of authentic film is great. But on a budget? Really, if someone was looking to get a film camera and they could feasably do it (ie they were very very very rich) they would not be posting here.... I'd rather go with a simple HD cam, and get something like Shake, which can actually extrapolate the grain of a given clip and recreate it exacly on another, as well as interpolate frames for slowmo, mimicking high frame rates. If you look at the quick tour on apples site it is pretty accurate too.

oh well whatever....
