Quicktime 7 doesn't play .avi

Quicktime 7 doesn't play .avi General 17 posts Sep 18, 2005 — Sep 18, 2005
I bought a new Mac (I'm a Mac newbie, this is my first Mac) I got a few .avi files that I wanna see and Quicktime 7 doesn't plays them. What codecs do I need?
VLC says
"main: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `WMV3'.
VLC probably does not support this sound or video format."

Then you are out of luck...it's probably using the latest and greatest WMV codecs.
So I can't watch that video on my Mac??
MPlayer 1.0pre8 rc4...try that player and see if your file works.
It would seem that way.

Why not send a thankyou email: support@microsoft.com ?
Doesn't work rickey...
AVI is ridiculous. It's a single filename extension that represents a gajillion differing file formats.
Grr

Nope, can't view it. Do you know what it's supposed to be? iPod nano TV ad or something?
Nah is a guy that record his iPod nano with his digi cam. I saw it at Neowin.net
yeah, neither of those support WMV3 in avi...yet
Popped it open on my PC. Don't worry, its not that exciting of a video. Just a guy showing the edges of the nano.
