Probably option D or E for me. I doubt I'll be one of the early adopters of the new OS - but then again, if the feedback in these fora is positive enough, perhaps I might. The thing is, I've spent years getting to know the current OS throughout all of its iterations, and I finally have my machine customized to the point where any change will be a change for the worse. For instance, I use a combination of Task-Menu-Bar, Alias-Menu, and Drop-Drawers to provide nearly instant and easy access to all of my various applications and documents. The organization on my hard-drive is a thing of beauty (at least to me it is; no doubt it would just confuse someone else who wasn't intimately familiar with its byzantine structure) and the OS X dock is simply not going to be an adequate replacement for what I'm now using. Moreover, I've spent hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars on a whole host of programs that either won't work under X, or will work only under OS 9 emulation. For instance, I have Disk Warrior, TechTool Pro, and NUM 5. These are all recent (within one year) purchases. I'm not prepared to just trash them, and I doubt that these companies will provide free upgrades to the Carbon versions - if they ever come out.

Don't get me wrong, I think that there are a lot of good things to the new OS, and I have no intention of being an OS-Luddite - eventually I'll make the move - but I'm in no hurry to give up the current OS. I'll do so only when the disadvantes of sticking with an unsupported OS begin to outweigh the advantages of using a familiar and comfortable OS, and not a second sooner.
