Anyone know where i could get the DualG4 Daughtercard/Heatsink/Gigabit ethernet-chip? where to buy parts for new Mac comps? Can it be tricked out of Apple? any info...
The best options are non-tradtional overclocking techniques, since Apple has neglected to give us traditional means (ie, jumpers). A list of things to use:
1. Thermal paste

Is it possible to modify the case of the old i-mac to allow for ventilation, thereby enabling one to get rid of that noisy fan (as with the new i-macs, if I'm not mistaken)??
Sure, take a drill and put holes all over the top and sides of the case.....
Seriously though, I don't think so. Does anybody know if the guts of the new iMacs are arranged differ…
I am not sure exactly how but i know that the new "guts" of the iMacs are arranged quite differently to allow more efficient cooling without a fan than the originals. As for punchi…

Apple went with new "short neck" CRT displays in the fanless models. I believe they use less energy, allowed the iMac logic board to be pushed further back in the case, and, coupl…

Thanks for the quick reply. Since you seem to be on the ball here I'll throw you another question: will Apple's software controller be able to run the Maxtor or will I have to buy …
Just use Drive Setup to format the hard drive when you get it. However, make sure you set it to "slave." Having two "masters" on an ATA chain is not pretty, trust me.
gelly, didn't you know computers are supposed to be confusing? That's why Apple came along... although we had a heck of a time repairing some severely fragged disks today. Crimin…
If there is a difference, it's that ATA was the expansion designed to support removeable media (the one that did not was called ATdisk. Both of them came with the PC AT.). By the w…

We have an old Performa 575 laying around (33 MHz, 36 MB RAM, 250 MB HD, etc.) and were wondering if there was a way to upgrade it to a 601 or 603 PPC AND upgrade the HD to somewhe…
I haven't heard of any specific ones for this series of computer but there maybe some around somewhere. The thing is I don't think it would be very cost effective. Even around seco…
I did find some prices for an upgrade and it was outrageous!! $500 some odd dollars to take me to a 603 75 MHz! I think a rev B would be a much better choice. Thanks.
Or, just get an older powermac and upgrade it to a G3.
