I'd really like to get a nano (and I may yet) but I really need more space, I've already outgrown my 40GB iPod Photo....
And yes I DO NEED THAT MUCH MUSIC!
I've got a friend that has multiple iPods with different playlists.
So he just picks up the iPod that fancies his mood - Hard Rock iPod, Slow Jams iPod, Bootie Call iPod, etc.

Thinking about getting a Nano, I decided to see just how much 4GB would hold by deleting all but 4GB of my iTunes Library from my 15GB iPod.
Strangely, 4GB of music showed up as …
You probably have other programs on your iPod. Have you ever used it as an external hard drive? You should be getting closer to 13.5 gb on a 15gb iPod, I would say.
If you don't have any computer data on the iPod, just use the iPod updater program to restore it to the factory state. That should get you back to full capacity.
I guess I'd like to know what the formatted capacity of the iPod nano is. It's usually about 92% of the iPod's stated size when empty.
The iPod has to reserve some space to keep t…
Memory sizes are not like hard drive sizes. Since memory chips operate in powers of 2, 4GB of flash memory should actually be 4GB. Apparently, the iPod OS takes about 300MB.
Chris
Can the nano's flash memory still double as an external "harddrive" ?
[By the way, thank you poster. I reset my iPod to the factory settings. Voila! Back to over 13GB capacity whe…
