While Working on my powerBook 150 today, I got it to a almost perfect condition. Put it back together and, a Black screen and a bad smell. On further inspection it seems that I hav…
As in trying to acquire any other skill, practice makes perfect. Grab a junk circuit board, and practice removing its caps. You'll quickly learn how much heat is too much, how long…
I've reflowed every joint on that board (literally, all 2000+ joints), just in case. Still getting a Sad Mac error unfortunately. I'm not having much faith in the future of this lo…
If I can get some documents describing the optimal settings for these, i'll be sure to give them a shot. Apple's service source documents show how to perform the adjustments, and t…

Well JRL, TO be honest your offer is very tempting, but I really don't want to spend any monies. And shipping from CA might be hell. If you are willing to pay shipping on your end,…
Just curious, how did you remove the old capacitors? I have just order a set of new capacitors for my Mac SE/30 but I am not confidence in doing the replacement by myself. I worr…
I had something very like what you are getting with the bad video. Turns out I had 2 bad video memory chips, which caused thin vertical bars over the video.
But unlike mine, you …

Yes I've switched the RAM in both to no avail, and double checked the caps on both.
The board with garbled video had more corrosion around the capacitor terminals, but no trace da…
Make sure the caps are placed with the correct polarity and value and are actually soldered on both sides. Was there any damage on the board from leaking caps (green residue from c…

I presume you have adjusted the analogue voltages back to optimal after your repairs? That is a common cause of the sad Mac. Also, remove the programmer's switch if installed.

Well, Dana's website said that a later version took out the CUDA button, but I'm not so sure myself.
FYI, my Macintosh LC 475 also has a auto-eject floppy.
