The 6Gb model is a 2nd generation mini and was made up until last October when it was replaced by the iPod nano. All mini accesories work with any mini, no matter what generation.

Get the lowest-end MacBook and upgrade the RAM and hard drive yourself. If you need to back up your laptop, using an external hard drive is more practical than using a Superdrive.
