I've used a Sony CRX-100E in place of the stock DVD-ROM in my B&W G3 and it worked wonderfully.
But like many others, I wish there were another 5.25" drive bay available...
Is there any reason I can't just cut out the Zip housing, put in one big enough for my RW, and use it like that? Or is there something I'm overlooking? I'm pretty new to cutting up…
You would also have to cut out 2 1"square blocks of the actual case, and these two blocks are where the cd/zip bay is fixed.
