So did you get the 840AV - hows it look?
I'm pretty sure I've a 32MB EDO SIMM in my 840AV - it won't hurt - give it a shot - but ideally you should go for FPM. ECC EDO RAM def…

The traditional way to prevent cracks from going further is to drill a small hole at the end of the crack. Not flash, but will save the plastic from further cracking.

Well I got a bunch of memory on craigslist the other day for REALLY cheap. Guaranteed to work or my money back. They're 72pin 60ns SIMMs, but they're EDO, and I wanted to make sure…

Finally got my Lombard back up to 512MB RAM. So nice....
Anyway, I noticed on the bottom of the case that there is a crack from the Apple logo to about 2/3rds of the way to the r…

The noise issue is a common complaint... I used my 700MHz eMac for occasional recording and solved the problem quite easily by hanging a thick fuzzy towel on the wall behind it.
Oh GAWD.
My 700mhz eMac wails like a get being sent through a wood chipper! (Not really but you get the idea... :rambo: )
I must admit the 1.25 ghz leaky caps one in the lab s…
eMacs are loud? WTF?
Every single eMac I have ever used (it's got to be over 50 by now) has been very quiet. These are mostly 1.25 and 1.42 GHz, so maybe the older models were dif…

That's about the standard price for kits that I've seen on ebay - or even less! And as they mostly ship from Hong Kong or mainland China, it ends up cheaper for us southerners.

Yes, the hdd is on the sled. But I resolved the issue by breaking off the plastic tab. So the front bezel is back on, hooked on by the remaining plastic tab on the left side. No…

You'll pay through the nose at Wegener. No offense to them - it's the same at most of the retails webstores for old parts. Best to post a want ad in the Trading Post here.
As far as I know, the memory check can't be turned off in the Memory Control Panel on a Quadra. I seem to recall that it requires a PPC and MacOS8 — possibly 8.5 or 8.6. It require…

The eMac 9.2.2 disc is a good one. The version I have has Mac OS ROM 10.1.1, which is one of the highest versions. I don't think any bootable, 9.2.2 install discs have the higher 1…

A 9.2.2 CD bundled with a later G4 worked quite well. It´s still verry strange to me, but the bought 9.1 refuses to boot, but a 9.2.2 works (even if it was made fo…

Is the HDD on the sled? If it is, try putting it in without the sled. It might be an odd-dimensions hard drive, therefore it sticks out a bit. Not every HDD was made to fit into…

I've forgotten the difference between the 64K ROMs. It was something very minor to do with the ROM debugger IIR (we were hoping for a fix for >512K of RAM of course).

For $5 it's a great deal - and a cool colle…
My browser preference is obvious but WannaBe works very well on the 1400 as a text browser.
