I am running OS X on my PB G3 Lombard and it needs a G4. I know there are upgrades for it out there, but I can't find one for the life of me that wouldn't require a government bai…

So you are probably wondering "what is Mac Hut".
Mac Hut is an archive of older 68K and PPC Macintosh software I started in 2005. It went offline in 2007, but now it's back. About…
I think it would make more sense to get a new 120mm fan instead, though I've read the B&W G3 uses a 2-pin connector not the normal 3 pin.

I would like to make my B&W G3 near-silent, like my iMac. I know it's possible, but I am curious to see if anyone else on here has performed this procedure.
This guide tak…
An update: I'm short on cash, but I was able to scrape together enough money to buy everything but the new processor and the video card. I also ended up getting a USB 2.0 card beca…
I come to the conclusion that 7z decompression is only possible in OSX.
LZMA is a open source algorithm so its not impossible to write a archiver even for system 6-9.
Unarchiver doesn't support all the features of 7zips anyway, like passworded archives. Better than having to use command line 7z for everything, though.
Uh, What? Has no one here heard of the unarchiver?

It's open-source, so it could theoretically be gotten to build somehow on a classic Mac.
Your best bet is probably to decompress on a modern Mac or PC and then transfer the decomp…

7zip = the devil's compression format of choice.
I downloaded some file in 7zip a month or few ago, not knowing what it was, then was annoyed when I discovered I had no program on…
AFAIK, the 7-zip format (.7z) was only made available when the 7-Zip program in Windows was introduced. I doubt that there's anything available that supports that compression form…

Is there a 7-zip supporting compressor or decompressor for the classic OS available or needs it to be written first?
I found p7zip and stuffit for OS X only.
For interested peopl…
Well I just threw in a 27GB WD on there and it worked without a hitch, even without jumpers!
Thanks for the reassurance guys. I tried this before and it didn't work but I found ou…

There were three revisions of the Beige G3 ROM: -A (LROG434-01/02), -B (LROG434-02) and -C (LROG434-03), and all with part no 820-0954. There are five subspecies of the Rev. A, but…
I've fiddled with OS X and XPostFacto on a number of beige G3s, and my conclusion is that you should use either 10.4 Tiger or 10.2 Jaguar. There's no reason ever to use 10.3 Panthe…
Ok, I'm still trying to figure out what os to put on, but I'll probably still go with tiger if it installs. I came up short on cash this week so I haven't ordered everything, and t…
