I'd give them a call, that website looks as dodgy as hell (the "about us" doesn't even work). Unless you can confirm the place actually exists and has items in stock, beware.

It does sound like a dried out solder joint, somewhere in the red line. If it was a dying gun I wouldn't expect it to be intermittent at first.

I don't believe you will be able to use a FAT formatted floppy as a boot disk. It must be formatted HFS.
