Thanks all. Yeah - I'm pretty pleased with the situation.
I upped it to 512MB RAM and have installed and am currently updating Jaguar. I have tiger discs around somewhere but cons…
That's wicked awesome!
I've always liked those machines, but their speakers were never good enough to be in a bedroom, meaning, they couldn't get quiet enough for late night use.

I'm typically not a huge fan of AIO machines. Back in 2001 my father decided he wanted to get a new mac, and decided on an iMac G3/600, which came in Snow and Graphite. I voted for…
Have you used Asanté EtherTalk Installer v5.6.1? Ideallly the software is installed before OT 1.1.1/1.1.2 so that it cannot overwrite OT with older componets. It is by no means e…
Some of those Asante devices aren't full-fledged Ethernet->Localtalk bridges, but rather, dedicated printer adapter devices.
Easiest way to do what you want to do is to get…

As far as I know, vintage Asante kit doesn't work at all with modern networking equipment. You need a 10 Mbps hub (very cheap) in between your DSL modem and your Quadra 605.
I'm having trouble getting my Quadra 605 connected to the internet through my LAN and DSL modem.
The DSL modem is a Motorola Netopia 3347. The DSL connection is through Qwest.

Good News: 128mb stick worked; Color Classic now reports 135mb of built-in memory. I have virtual memory off. Any use for RAM disk now?
Bad news: Gah! Now that I have OT 1.1.1 i…

I fancied a trip to a semi-local used bookstore the other day (Sunday) and rescued 8 used Mac books.
They are:
Power Macintosh 8600 Users' Manual
The Power Mac Book!

Got a iMac G4 800MHz 17", local pickup from eBay for just £84. In the UK these are worth about £200, so it might be sold for a profit. Needs a clean inside and out, and a replaceme…

Stupidly enough, OpenTransport 1.1.2 is only available as an update. This means you have to install OT 1.1.1 first, and then upgrade to 1.1.2, which is a bit of a bore. Having said…
Great, I'll give OT a shot. I found this website from apple:

I second Nico's suggestion to use Open Transport - while it is a bit of a memory hog as he said, it is much, much, much, much easier to configure than MacTCP, and supports DHCP, wh…
I've had some serious problems getting MacTCP to work with my Linksys WRT54GL router. Turns out those Linksys routers (and probably certain other brands as well) perform some kind …
Hi Folks,
A few weeks ago, before my Color Classic was Mystical, I started a post at viewtopic.php?f=7&t=10285 trying to get it on the internet. Now that the system speci…

Get a couple cheap Sil3512 based cards from newegg or something and flash them with wiebetech TCS1-1 firmware.
No drivers to install, bootable. Only down side is only two ports an…

Sorry, but I'm going to go into rant mode here, mostly because I don't like MrMacPlus' response. It is indicative, in my mind, of a phenomena that I refer to as anti-spam fascism.…
