Today I dropped by the local college with a friend and checked out the free computer stuff (for the *I've lost count* time) and got:
-Farallon AAUI to BASE10 ethernet adapter (my …

Hi, I'm PowerPup. Been a Macintosh fan ever since I was 6.
These are my favorite gadget conquests I've conquered so valiantly over the last few years. :rambo:

Hello, I'm PowerPup. I just joined the forum. (Awesome forum by the way.)
I almost succeed in a similar attempt, it ended up not working so well because I could not find a stab…

Ok, I'm not familiar with the EtherWave product, but you described it as a "bridge". I have never seen a LocalTalk to Ethernet bridge that is capable of MacIP, but I guess it's po…
It looks to me that the drivers aren't installed properly. You should see two network device entries in the MacTCP dialog -- one for LocalTalk and one for the EtherWave. Apart from…

There are also software routers and MacIP gateways, like the old "Apple Internet Router" that you can run on a second, ethernet capable Mac to do this - but you don't really want t…

The Farallon EtherWave is a "full TCP/IP" device and should act like a conventional ethernet adapter. They're a bit on the slow side, but adequate for basic use with a Plus or SE. …

The problem is that LocalTalk can't "do" tcp/ip (the "internet" protocol) - it can only handle AppleTalk and that's it.
MacTCP allows you to work around this limitation by wrappin…
First, the basics : I run system 6.0.8, the Etherwave bridge is connected to the modem port of the Plus on one side and to my router on the other (and is 12V plugged too...).

Hi everyone,
As the title says, I'm the proud owner of a Plussed 512, a Farallon Etherwave localtalk-to-ethernet bridge and of an internet connection - and my goal is obviously to…

That the battery charges in the VST charger is absolutely key. It can't be a bad battery. Now I am no expert, but I would probably try the following:
unplug backup battery and ma…

I've tried BatteryReset and it made no difference. I'll concede that the battery is probably bad. The strange thing, though, is that it will charge to four lights and be usable in …

Remove the PRAM battery if it is dead, just causes problems.
Sounds like you either messed up a cable or something if those buttons do not work, not a common problem.

1. sounds like the battery itself is faulty. Have you tried Battery Reset?
2. sound like the backup battery is long past dead.
3. no idea, but I have never heard of this problem …

I suppose it might be possible (long shot) to set up the module to act as an Appletalk bridge by writing a custom firmware for it. / port something like NetaTalk / emulate an Local…

Why did I say wheelie bin?
Because that's what HE said.
Turned out to be a large tub, about three quarters full.
I'm kind of glad in a way, because, I wouldn't have had the space…
