There is a hack somewhere on macmod.com. It's for a tiBook I think but it should work for yours too. I think he used Fiber Optic.

Pismo/ Wallstreet battery cells — #11

I found a seller in the US who has lithium cells with built in protection circuits. I think 18650 and 4/3A are the same - I remember I found him while looking for cells from my ow…

Thinking about buying an Apple II — #5

I cannot speak for the video angle, but the only real advantage to the IIe is expansion. If you don't need expansion, you'll probably be happier with a IIc+. Here's why: - The I…

Thinking about buying an Apple II — #4

The IIc+ was only sold in the US so to get it running on your electricity, you would need some sort of external 110 to 220 volt converter. I don't think there is a switch on the ba…

Somnolent mouse — #18

A small update, in that removal of the USB card effected nothing but removal of the USB card, so back in it went for my printer's sake. However, in the frew-ing and toe-ing brough…

Thinking about buying an Apple II — #2

Me and a friend saved an IIe from school, and I *used* to have a II growing up as a kid, so I would say go with the IIe just because it is the beefed up II and would have more soft…

Somnolent mouse — #17

The USB 2.0 card was present during the Mac's month-long existence as a 533MHz machine, with no untoward behaviour evident. But your thought had also crossed my mind as an avenue …

IIGS ROM 01 or ROM 03? — #6

ROM03 machines have less background noise coming from the speaker. It's most noticeable from within GSOS, where the processor and video hardware stay pretty busy.

Somnolent mouse — #16

Out of curiosity, does the mouse issue persist if you remove the 6-port PCI-X USB 2.0 NEC card? Cheers, Rick

Although Macally seems not to allow the name of the iKey4 to cross its lips any more, I found a generalized FAQ page about iKey keyboards. The mouse freeze issue is related …

IIGS ROM 01 or ROM 03? — #5

The SCSI card will be the hard one to find (cheap). You might want a bigger RAM card for a ram drive.

IIGS ROM 01 or ROM 03? — #4

I think I'll go with the ROM 03 for my IIGS setup. I want to get GS/OS running off an HD someday. My ROM 01 has a 1 MB RAM card. I can put that in the ROM 03 and get 2 MB. Then I j…

IIGS ROM 01 or ROM 03? — #3

ROM 3 has 1MB built in. I guess it depends on if you are going to run GS/OS from a HD or just want to play games from floppy. ROM 3 for GS/OS, ROM 1 for floppy based games.

IIGS ROM 01 or ROM 03? — #2

Probably the ROM 3. More onboard memory means that you will have more memory overall. The updated ROM should mean that less of the Toolbox is in RAM too, which is handy. I think…

If you have any leftover rubber chickens from SCSI voodoo rituals, perhaps you could sacrifice one to the USB gods.
