Personally I would just take a drill to the lock core, or maybe a cut off wheel. THose lacks are pretty cheap so a good carbide bit should work. If that doesn't work diamond drill…

I'm about 95% positive that they are the same. I believe that when I replaced the screen in my iBook G4 a couple years ago, the replacement came from a G3.
