It didn't make any sense without the line seperation after I modified it. And the " - " takes up 3 characters that could be used for other stuff.

It's a disk 'image'. It contains all of the neccisary HFS formatting. THe disk burning app reads byte 1, writes byte 1. reads byte 2, writes... etc
