I'd say G5 all the way. G4s are okay if you don't do anything too intensive, but the prices are almost the same, and the G5 "pwns" the powerbook in every way except portability. …
for bragging rights: got a dual 800 qs and 22" display. Plan to get a powerbook (hopefully 17"!), and some upgrades for my g4 (video card and some ram) soon
