I don't think mine has ever correctly synchronized that info.

The shuffle updates playcounts, but does NOT report the time last played information... b/c it doesn't have a clock.

Here's a link to a script that updates it to the current time. I haven't tried it out yet.

Just get the shuffle for now. Later on when you have more songs (and more money) you can upgrade. You'd just be wasting all of the space on the mini.

Is your shift key broken on your keyboard? How much music do you own? How would you use either iPod?

If you are going to be away from your computer for a long time with your iPod, the mini will hold a lot more music. Otherwise, the shuffle can probably do you fine.
