well, I've found that the Podium CoolPad makes my AL 15in run much cooler, and it doesn't add an extra fan.

My PB just gets warm when hooked up to my 20" display and using a Targus coolpad. sure, it's an extra fan, but barely noticeable. Highly recommended.
