Silly question, but have you run the hardware test CD on your iMac to check the Firewire port?

No, but both my Powerbook and iMac work fine when I plug in the firewire cable and use the Powerbook in Target Disk mode. I assume that means both ports are good.

I had the same problem with the usb working but not firewire on the phr-100ac. I believe the fix was making sure the jumpers on the drive were set for master.
