He should double his RAM? Vista only need 512MB RAM to 'run', and he has double that so he would be able to get decent performance. Then again you can never have too much RAM.

Although I am sure Vista would run just fine in the end the real question is will it run with bootcamp. I heard it wasn't so easy with the earlier betas.
