Significant? Depends on what your expectations are. There is a small hit on performance using shapeshifter versus a "native" theme. CandyBar however does not make a difference.

You might need to reformat the drive under disk utilities from the OS 9 CD. Far as I know, the first and second generation iMacs can take up to 120GB Hard drives.
