Assuming this story is true, how could Apple screw this up? How long have manufacturers been making black laptops? Seriously, this sort of thing shouldn't happen anymore.

mine is starting to flake off as well... it's happening on the corners, where it's most easily scratched etc. the paint is very easy to flake off.

Most black PC's are just black plastic. Apple seems to use some sort of paint.

I was just at the apple store and tried pretty hard to get any type of scratch on it, and I got nothing. I probably tried 7 or 8 times in different places and nothing at all happen…
