Perfect.
I've stopped using the OS 9 hard drive ( the other drive has Tiger ) after upgrading from OS 8.6 to OS 9 only because OS 9 would not get along with many of my audio/midi …
The 8500 Shipped with OS 7.5.x. I don't recoomend 7.5.2 but anything 7.5.5 or later (7.6.1 and 8.1 are perfect for a stock 8500) will do nicely. On G3 equipped 8500 I go for OS 9.1…
The OmniBook 300s are beautiful. Never been able to land one.
I do have a OmniGo 700LX, but no phone for it, of course. I used a 95LX for a long time. A delightful little unit.

Hi Gary,
Did your tech check R26 to see if it is shorted or open? I ask because I've seen this exact problem on three or four Mac Pluses and Pina's recommendation to check the c…

Windows 98 SE can use wireless, if you buy an older card with drivers. I remember one time when mom brought home a State of Texas laptop from work. Damn thing had no Ethernet port …

Windows 95 means no wireless and no even remotely modern browsers. I'm going to put in a 128 MB stick and try either a trimmed version of Win2k or slackware. Id' do gentoo so I c…

Yep, not a problem. The PowerMac 8500 is supported by Apple to run any version of Mac OS from System 7.5.2 to Mac OS 9.1, including Mac OS 8.0, 8.1, 8.5, 8.5.1 and 8.6.

Ouch! A replacement CD cable from the computer recycler in Singapore that (apparently) bought all the unsold stock was $25! That one cable cost me 6 times what I paid for the com…

the old ones are pretty easy to develop for, so instead of killing people all day you could make math blaster for intellivision or maybe a telnet client on a atari 2600
That's certainly a cheap fix. Be patient with the teardown, and keep track of your screws.
BTW, in case it wasn't clear from LC_Guy's reply above, the "Kanga" G3 Powerbook logic …
I dunno- I think that's pushing it. Pre-Pentium sounds about right to me. As for game systems, make the cutoff be by bit count on the main processor. 8 bit, say. That would keep th…
If you want to make a trip down to Deptford I have a B&W board with a 400mhz chip you can have for free. I have a power supply too if you want it.
Thanks for everyone's comments. I think I'm ready to pull the switch on this! I will check and see if they have the 240mhz board; but for $20 + ship, the 200 may be the most cost-e…
