DVD in a Quadra? — #8

Fellow 68kmla'er wthww gave me a SCSI DVD-RAM drive last July, but I've never done anything with it. If someone figures out what drivers are needed, I too would be interested.

Dual versus Single CPU in Mac Os 9 Real test — #7

I saw an old review of a prototype G4 upgrade from Daystar that had 2m cache vs 1m cache in the production model and the results weren't impressive. Running about 20 apps and bench…

De-Yellowing a Plus, Need Advice — #11

I think most of them have the coating, even as far back as the 128k. My 128k has it, I just assumed they all did. Here's a photo of the guts of a 128k, with the coating:http://kcom…

And Daystar 68060 Accelerators... — #17

Apple's devious plan for incorporating binary emulation seamlessly into the existing Mac OS was very clever, but it also meant they wasted loads of effort making a new CPU act like…

asking for opinion: WGS 8150 vs. Radius 81/110 — #24

That's odd about the 2GB partition booting. My PowerBook 1400 is running 7.6.1 and has a 5GB drive in it (therefore partitioned to a single volume of 4.7GB). It boots up first time…

It wasn't necessarily a matter of functionality, since I already have a 512k, 512ke, and 3 Pluses. It was more for getting something I didn't already have. This 512k does have a SC…

AAACK!!! part 2. I ended up having to go with OS 8.1 as it appears OS 7.6.1 only recognizes 2 gig or smaller. I also decided to pull the SCSI card as there seems to be conflict i…

I started scraping away the coating using a putty knife. Seems to work pretty well, although I will have to finish it up with sandpaper. Will post results when I finish.
