I have a sneaky suspicion that there's something wrong with my PowerBook. It boots without chiming (I have reset the PRAM to no avail), and …

All of Trash80toG4's threads on the subject were lost in the Great Crash. I just hope that one day he googlestalks himself and winds up back here, with all of his notes intact.

You are right, it isn't 2/3. I think it is 4/5AA, which you can get fairly readily. Check the measurement of the cells listed here against the originals when you open up the batter…

I tried re-celling mine with AA-sized, tabbed NiMh cells but could not make them fit. The OEM cells were smaller (2/3 AA, I believe you call them), and after a struggle, I located …

Well then, that's not good. With any luck, it may just be a bad PMU; they were replaceable on those models, unlike the DVIs and later.
Or it could be a random logic board failure.…

beachycove, I'm thinking of recelling the battery in mine too. I've got 48mb of RAM and a 1GB CF, and the machine works perfectly. Such a shame that I can't take it with with me …

This is likely an easy fault to fix.
Simply remove the bottom case, move the DVDROM drive, and disconnect the PRAM battery (3-wire connector) from the PMU. Reassemble, and the mac…

Some nubus cards will not work with recent system software, and some (say, the Rocket accelerators) will not work with a ppc processor. That's all I meant.
I have a 2300c with CF,…

I come to the conclusion that 7z decompression is only possible in OSX.
LZMA is a open source algorithm so its not impossible to write a archiver even for system 6-9.
I had an instructor bring me a Powerbook G4 that won't power up. I tried resetting the PMU and taking the battery out, as well as re-seating the RAM.
The charger light in the back…
Unarchiver doesn't support all the features of 7zips anyway, like passworded archives. Better than having to use command line 7z for everything, though.
Uh, What? Has no one here heard of the unarchiver?
