You can video chat using iChat with him, if he's using AIM 5.9 (not that Triton thing).

You can also use aMSN, which is a (slightly klunky but functional) MSN Messenger client that supports video on the Mac.

My experience is that you need Trillian Pro, not the basic version of Trillian. Trillian Pro on Windows works well with iChat AV on the Mac using the AIM protocol.
