Flashback: Whatever happened to Microware suing Apple over OS9?
· OS 9 · 9 posts · Jan 3, 2004 — Jan 4, 2004 View original thread ↗
Remember when OS9 came out? Microware, who had been producing a product called OS9 for almost 20 years, sued Apple.

Whatever happened? Was it dropped? Was it settled? Did the fact that Apple no longer sells OS9 kinda kill the lawsuit?

Anybody have any links?

What is the status of Apple Records suing Apple now?
Apple wins 'OS 9' trademark lawsuit *

The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Iowa has dismissed Microware Systems Corporation's lawsuit seeking to enjoin Apple from using the name "Mac OS 9" for its current operating system release. The court held that Apple's use is "fair use". Microware, which owns the trademark "OS-9", announced it would appeal the ruling.

The zdnet link doesn't work, but it looks like Apple's dead OS is in the clear. Thanks for the quick reply.
The judge also said "It defies logic and common sense that a customer walking into a computer store would mistake Mac OS 9 costing $99, for the high end, embedded OS-9, which costs thousands of dollars"

And they lost on appeal.
Whatever happen to the "cube" lawsuit?
are the beatles still getting million dollar checks from Apple over iTunes?

I use to like the beatles until they sued Apple, and continue to sue Apple over some BS excuse and the stupid courts to allow them.

I hope beatles go bankrupt and rot in hell. I for sure will never buy anything of theirs ever again.
Who are "The Beatles"?
