Conspiracy Theory: The US Gov is in Bed with the Aliens

Why else would only the NASA probe successfully reach the red planet? The Japanese probe failed and Beagle 2 disappeared. I vaguely remember something about 4 probes heading there, but I don't recall what country sent the fourth one.

So, who here thinks that it's just a coincidence that only the American mission was a success?

Probably more to do with luck - most missions in the past, American and Russian - have failed. The US was bound to get one to work in the end.

And once we start colonizing the barren red planet, we'll probably find martian natives.

And when we do, we can purchase the entire western hemisphere of the planet from them for a measly bead, and drive the natives underground into special "reservations".
